So I'm exploring other options like Gimp (nice variety of brushes can be found online, some Photoshop brushes can be used in Gimp), Rebelle, and Krita's Digital Atelier brushes (and lots of free ones available online) at the moment. I'm starting to look at Photoshop for digital painting, only because every piece of artwork I see is almost always done in Photoshop. The software I'm now utilizing for digital painting is Krita, Leonardo, and ArtRage. Even their tools scream, I'm just a photo editor. Fast forward to today and I'm getting back into the digital painting world and I still can't help, but look at Photoshop the same way. For digital painting, Painter was for the serious digital painter. Way back when, when I was in college, Photoshop was viewed and taught as a professional photo editing software. I think many use Photoshop because it's just what people are use to, they like the results, and the tools available within Photoshop.
